Display and Change Which Card Is Selected On the Curve Card itself

I love the concept of Curve and have used it for lots of transactions now, over 7 different cards.
The only thing I dislike is that every time I use it, I have to get my phone out and login to the app to see which of my cards is selected and then probably change the selection.

I therefore suggest the following ideas in order of complexity:

1 - Make the selected card name and image visible in the app before login, just to speed up the process.
2 - I’ve seen a credit card that had a small e-ink display on it and a few buttons. (fuzecard) Surely this would be the perfect way for the Curve card to display which card is currently selected, as well as allowing you to change the selected card.

Number 2 is a big change for sure, but this would be an amazing leap forward that I for one would happily pay a premium for.

I agree with the problem. I have faced the same. The solution could be even more intuitive.

I like idea number 1. Number 2 though I don’t see how. Fuzecard is magnetic stripe only. No chip and no contactless. That would be pretty useless

I agree with you it would be useless without contactless and chip, but the beauty of the curve card is that changing the selected payment card doesn’t need to change the magstripe or chip, it only has to communicate with the phone app to change which card is being used, the curve card number stays the same. It’s basically just adding a bluetooth remote control with screen to the existing curve card

How about the ability to select which card you’re using without using an app. I.e. built into the card. Waited for a long time for a useable fuze card before giving up and discovering Curve.

I think where fuze failed, is in trying to emulate the underlying cards in the front end, which is why they’re still in the dark ages (mag stripe only). Curve got ahead of the game by simply being a card, the underlying card being selected in the back end.

It would be great to merge the two technologies - Curve’s approach of being a standalone card with fuze’s ability to select which underlying card to use.

HOW a transaction would tell Curve’s back end which underlying card was selected, would be the only hurdle. I don’t know enough about how the handshaking protocol works between you presenting your card to the vendor’s machine, and the vendor receiving an “approved” signal back, to know if this it’s even possible to squeeze a flag into the transaction that tells the back end which card’s selected.

Upvoted! I don’t need to switch cards too often (and once AutoPilot is out it may not even be necessary) but I think it’s a great idea.

I think AutoPilot is probably going to remove much of the need for easier card changing; I don’t think Curve need to change how the physical card operates and I wouldn’t want anything from the app (even the selected card) to be above the login screen.

The Curve Apple Watch app might also help with changing your card more quickly once that is released.

Yep agreed, Apple Watch (or even the other ones, FitBit etc.) would make it really easy.
