iTunes and App Store

Hello guys
I am trying to set up my curve for paying my subscription to Apple Music and other shopping in my App Store but I can not make it work… it is displays " this payment method is not valid". Does anyone have the same issue or something?
Thank you forehand

Hello @surfinwaikiki

@chrisljo had some issues using Curve with Apple as well, but not sure if it was related to the App Store.

Yes, it was related to App Store. I think it is because Curve is seen as UK card, but Apple require it to match my account country.

That would make sense since I am living in Denmark. Then is it possible at all to generate a Curve registered in Denmark? should I contact Customer support for this purpose in that case?
Thank you again, you always helpful

For Curve to replicate what Revolut does is basicly my ask in that thread, right I don’t they have a solution.

No idea how country specific cards can even be done by a payment processor. I know that you guys say Revolut does it in the other threads, but from my newbie knowledge you would think, that WireCard will only issue cards for Curve users for the UK since Curve is located there.

But honestly I also would love a card listed with EUR as 1st currency / BIN with Germany or any other EUR country.
The reason is simple, many payment systems identify correctly the card as a UK card and always ask me if I want to make the payment in GBP and pay their insane DCC fees when buying anything in Germany or online such as on ryanair.

Did some research and found that we can only issue UK cards for now

It seems I am not gonna take much of a profit of the cash back with Apple after all…
Thank you for the help anyway…

If I’m not wrong, I think the cashback with Apple is actually purchased made in an Apple Store rather than iTunes Store?

Nice work around… go to an apple store and buy some iTunes gift cards with your Curve!

Same problem here (Now in April 2020). My brand new fancy metal card is not accepted on the French App Store. :man_shrugging:t2:

Same surprise today on Belgian AppStore :frowning:

You’re wrong

Same problem in Germany with my new Metal Card starting with 5375 9005, my previous Black card starting with 5375 9020 worked without problems. Hope the Investor Metal Card will start with 5375 9020 again…

(DHL Germany also accepts 5375 9020 and declines 5375 9005. PayPal offers currency conversion when I use the 5375 9005 card, they didn’t do that when I had the 5375 9020 card.)

Hi guys, unfortunately ,as Marie has mentioned, we only issue UK cards for now. It’s best to get in touch with our support team with these issues so that they can see if there’s any other reason for your declines first. If it’s related to the card BIN, then it can be noted and passed on to our team so that its taken into consideration going forward.

Also, @surfinwaikiki you’ll receive cashback on any Apple purchase including in store/online or through iTunes.

@Hannah; you obviously cannot receive any cashback from iTunes and/or App Store as long as the card keeps getting declined there.

Article 5(1) of Regulation (EU) 2018/302, which took effect on 3rd December 2018, states:

A trader shall not, within the range of means of payment accepted by the trader, apply, for reasons related to a customer’s nationality, place of residence or place of establishment, the location of the payment account, the place of establishment of the payment service provider or the place of issue of the payment instrument within the Union, different conditions for a payment transaction.

Apple, by rejecting cards whose country of issue differs from the country of the app store, breaches this legislation, which applies throughout the European Economic Area and United Kingdom.

@Hannah, Apple doesn’t listen to individual consumers’ complaints about its breach of legislation, but it might listen to a card issuer such as Curve, not least as Curve has a contractual relationship with Apple through Apple Pay. Therefore, please could Curve speak to Apple about this breach of EU legislation, which unlawfully impedes the acceptance of Curve’s cards?

No, you’re issuing country specific cards for Germany, Italy, and Poland as well.

DE BIN: 5375 9020
PL BIN: 5375 9083
IT BIN: 5375 9064

These are what I’ve seen at least.

Same problem for me in Portugal. Just got my metal card and can’t use it for Apple payments. Had no problem with my acurve blue card. Pleas help!

Same problem with me with iTunes, it worked well with my previous Curve black card (grandfather product) also PayPal is trying to convert the currency again and again, not being able to set EUR as default anymore. Amazon tried the same, but one can fix this with a general selection made to use EUR as underlying currency!

@erlingni Sorry, I used a poor choice of words there. What I meant was as long as your card is accepted and your transaction is successful then you would receive cashback on transactions made with Apple directly or through iTunes.

@NFH, @Oliverda, @doose7, @RSibbing I’m going to check this with our team and see what we can do. I’ll get back to you with an update asap.
